Lambing time! 4 lambs already on the ground with many more to follow this week! Strong babies raised outside with no assistance, free ranging where ever they want to go. We have goat babies ranging 1 MILE from where they were born already just 1 week later! No pens here.

- March News -

March is bringing 90 degree temps! Spring is here and the goats are loving it. Here's a small group in the bottom of a hollow.

We had a very determined billy get out last year a couple weeks before we wanted to breed. He ended up breeding 5 goats.

The puppies are about 3 weeks old! Already growling and barking at things. These are going to be great guardian dogs. We have 4 girls and 1 boy.

Ava had puppies!

Another new pig - ZORRO! Our large black boar.

How many times have you seen pigs grazing with sheep?!

Time for a nap! That sun feels great.

Feb - 2011

It's been a fast year here... gathering animals, putting up permanent fencing, building water tanks, feeders, and all sorts of things. The back 40's perimeter has been completely fenced and soon it will be divided up into multiple paddocks roughly 20-50 acres in size each. In April we'll be having goat kids and lambs galore so this should provide them have all the fresh vegetation they can handle.

The guard dogs have been developing very nicely. They follow everyone, well.. everyone usually follows the guard dogs! We have 5 dogs and these Great Pyrenees are the best dogs I've ever come across. They are extremely smart and know exactly what to do.

For 2012 we'll be working on perimeter fencing, cross fencing, water stations, and seeding new areas. The website is going to get some work, we want to have a breeders type web site and another for meat buying. We're bringing in some new animals - Large Black pigs. I'm going to use them to help mow some weeds and rototil some compacted land. Our woods is almost all oak trees, so they should fit in very nicely and develop an exceptional flavor.

We hope everyone had a great 2011 and hope 2012 is even better!

Here's some videos of our new pig "Tilly!"
